Student spearheads campus composting efforts

International Student Takes a Leap of Faith and Finds a Second Home in Grantham

Like any international student who attends college thousands of miles away from family and the familiar, Messiah College junior and international business major Dorottya “Dori” Gyori ’13 defines home differently.

Born in Biatorbagy, Hungary, in 1990, Gyori discovered a second home in Grantham in 2008 when she accepted a freshman spot on the Messiah Falcons’ women’s basketball team.  A 6’2 highly-recruited forward during her senior year at Mechanicsburg Area High School in Mechanicsburg, Pa., Gyori had earned significant attention from Division 1 athletic programs across the U.S. Read the rest of this entry »

Surviving an overseas terrorist bombing increases student’s passion for ministry

Christian ministries major Kristopher Sledge ’13 experienced a summer he won’t soon forget. The 19-year-old Selinsgrove, Pa., native says he was grateful to spend time this summer as part of a 15-member team from his church doing mission work in Bwaise, Uganda, a suburb of the capital, Kampala. However, on July 11, he was also one of the people hurt in a terrorist bombing that killed 74 and injured many others. Read the rest of this entry »
