Dan Webster ′09 took his passion for caring for the earth to a new level at Messiah College, one that will grow into a lasting legacy.

By spearheading an on-campus chapter of the Campus Climate Challenge (CCC), a national campaign aimed at promoting a clean energy future, Dan and Messiah’s CCC chapter created a sustainable on-campus garden (ww.messiah.edu/org/garden), which serves as a tangible example of Messiah College’s commitment to environmental stewardship.

More than 50 student gardeners, using only organic fertilizers, volunteer approximately 3,000 hours of labor for the project, which produces a bountiful harvest of fresh produce for area families and faculty.

“To activate Christian environmental stewardship … is a lifelong blessing. We need to realize that this is part of our faith as well,” said Dan. “It’s part of who we are as Christians.”
